Keyan Keihani Releases New Record: Eastbound

Keyan Keihani is not only a talented alt-country singer, songwriter and guitarist, he’s also my colleague at Brafton! I see Keyan from time to time when he travels from the San Francisco office to our headquarters in Boston and I had heard he was in the process of recording a new full-length album. Now that it’s finally here, I knew that I HAD to give this great guy a very special featured artist post on! The album, “Eastbound,” (produced and engineered by Michael Hurwitz and mixed and mastered by Tom Size) is an honest blend of geographic romanticism and fractured bonds over a sparse and understated musical backdrop of folk and country. Even though “Eastbound” was only released on August 27th, 2013 he is already in the process of writing a new record, tentatively titled “The Exit.” Between travel, music and Brafton I wonder when this guy sleeps!?

Keihani is a natural-born musician but his first release came in 2008 with a six song EP entitled “Under The Above.” In 2009, he moved to London to attend graduate school and his time there consisted of studying regression analyses and Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Texas Flood.” Although this caused songwriting to take a temporary backseat, the events surrounding the decision to move fueled an array of tunes further down the road.  Nothing says folk-country like songs inspired by travel and finding yourself.

Keihani’s big turning point came in 2011 when he was introduced to Michael Hurwitz. After he failed to finish a full-length album in a commercial studio session, Hurwitz decided to step in as the new producer and engineer. Having worked with Stevie Nicks, Eddie Money, Disney and Donny Osmond, among others, Keihani jumped at the chance to work with this music veteran. This relationship opened up a variety of new opportunities including the chance to work with amazingly talented session musicians like Phil Bennett (Starship, formerly Jefferson Starship), Marc Levine (Barry Manilow, Uncle Festive), Richie Owens (Dolly Parton, Vince Gill) and Steve Sage (Melancon Guitars).

“Eastbound” is available for download on iTunes, Amazon, CDbaby, Bandcamp or you can listen directly on Make sure to keep in touch with Keyan via social media and if you live in the San Francisco area you can see him LIVE for free on Monday, October 14th!
